I really don't understand the Romantica hate in some comments. We have a normal teen (as another said, Desir is only more mature because of his returner status), who is hard working, shows loyalty and compassion towards her friends and is acting appropriately to her age. Wooow, so many reasons to hate her, just because people don't want to sleep with her/don't want the MC to sleep with her. Because, of course, the only way to define a female character interest is through her relationship with the male mc.

Desir says in chapter 1 that many friends and lovers were lost. Emphasis on the plural. Later when he meets Romantica, he does not say she was his lover, he simply says he fell into despair when she died for a while. They could've been lovers or very close friends.

I think it was either heavily implied or explicity stated they were lovers.
I distinctly remember in the first chapter, Desir was talking about he lost his lover in the shadow world and Romantica was in his arms.
There were also other mentions elsewhere but I don't quite remember where.
