Well, hmm... so the person who has been delivering your mail is also a demon who wants you to help demons. I know this isn't a story that thinks too deeply, but certainly the main character in a more intelligently thought out story could surmise that the demon may have tampered with his mail and forged the letter from his "mother" stating that he needed to help the demon. Again, I know this isn't the case for this story. It's too simple, but it would be good if the author could at least pretend that such things might occur.

@Bluedudu
also good and evil are subjektiv they are simply enemys and either side considers themself the good ones

stories that objectively portrays either side as good (for their own) is rare since it's hard to make people invest in the story because (usually) people want to root to the "good" side, hence why the story almost always consist of good side and bad side
it's easier to hate corrupt officials than official who did bad things for their people's sake

SO SHORT!
I want to see what they will disguise themselves as.

Finally a bit of plot without the whole farming shtick. Same-facing is still a problem though. The mailman and Al look near identical...

they all look alike...
Is mangaka using only 1 template for the face and neck?

@Merilirem well i dont know if i can agree to this the idea of a pretty noble who is evil (like here) is actually super common nowdays

also good and evil are subjektiv they are simply enemys and either side considers themself the good ones

but thinking realistic for a moment...IF something like those deamons rrly would exist in our world...we rrly would (and probably should) try to wipe them out...thats a simple harsch truth...usually they are depictet as incredibly superior in pretty much anything (magic, physical capabilitys, and their ability to control monsters) and would pose a mortal threat to humanity as a whole because it would only take 1! to cause significant damage (demon lord trope)

Somehow the farming stuffs is gone. He should have go withdrawal symptoms since its been long for him to farm whatever
Avatar
Hey wait, that's not a plan, considering his position as a farmer, I don't think he can sneak in without getting caught.

@Chizan It reflects out own worlds condition. Writers use demons and monsters and such to subvert the idea of "good and evil by default" that permeates our cultures. You see supposedly good figures all over the place and find them to be the evil ones too often to keep the facade going. The coat of paint of old stories and societies peels off with time and new stories are made that reflect that disillusionment.

It can represent anything and often represents everything. Racism and pretty much all ism's. Pretty people versus not pretty people. Popular people versus the downtrodden. It plays its part in all of the big stories from MHA, Black Clover, even one punch man to a degree. The idea is one of equality in a way. No one is good or bad, were all just people. Demons have been so strongly labelled as the bad guys that to use them as good guys is effective in showing people the judgment of entire groups as simply good and evil is too basic of a notion to actually be usefully true.

There is also a lot of push back since it used to be and still is super commonplace to show good people and bad people as black and white caricatures. The evil old hag and the pretty young princess. The dashing knight and the old fat noble or evil wizard who "looks clearly evil". Disney does this a lot. You get the idea. Media are still afraid to be anything but pretty but atleast pretty is getting more diverse and everything else is becoming more neutral.

Anyway if you want to rebel against the higher powers of the world, rebelling against the gods make sense. Who would be against gods? Well demons naturally. The iconic bad guys are now the only hope against justice gone wrong. Thats also where the edge-lords came from.

Thanks for the update

There are good demons, we can't paint all of them bad.
Avatar
@Chizan i dont think thats the case for this manga. so far the auther has shown a good mix of both good and evil characters on both sides.

FOR A MOMENT I thought we were gonna get a demonic addition to the harem. Seems he's taken and Rick's more likely to lean towards the mother though.

@Chizan I feel it's a more grey who's good and who's bad that shows up most.
Avatar
Humans, the real monsters, as always. When you start to think about it, there's likely more isekais/fantasy where the demons are on the side of good compared to their human counterparts than the other way around...

Thanks for the chapter!
