Well that took a turn

It's all a fight for survival as we've seen the demons are real and the church knows about them already apparently so they designed the gods warriors(Mindless superhuman warriors) to counter them. However there will always be scumbags who try and turn profits for themselves by exploiting others. Many people disconnect from pain and suffering, as long as it isn't linked to them, for instance if one of the churches emissary had a daughter and she succumbed to the "devils power," unless the character was being portrayed as a heartless psychopath they would try and hide their child and protect them.

I'm not saying its not completely cliche at this point for the stereotypical good guys (church and angels) to be the bad guys. I'm saying if there's nothing wrong with the church or the angels (specifically I was going with them being "actually good, holy, and strong"), and they've been powerful enough in the past to 'hold down the fort', then why does the 'story' need an 'MC'? Of course, you can always make the reason a new element got added to the world and they no longer are strong enough, there are a few of those.

I'd certainly be okay with some more recent stories where the powerful 'good guy' organizations aren't corrupt or cartoonishly evil to balance they scales. Just recently outmatched / getting outsmarted, or at worse got complacent. The good guys who are supposed to be dealing with the things the MC exists to deal with being secretly (or obviously) bad is just easy to world build around, and is often part of the wish fulfillment (the MC gets to 'fix' the world & civilization, not just dues ex the bad guy and say "carry on, you were doing great otherwise!")

@Kayriel agree with you there... iam here to read fantasy... when i want the reality of the church raping children i watch the news!

I mean, you could. Easily. Look at all the isekai where heroes are summoned by a church to fight the demon king, and it turns out the demon king is the good guy. The bait and switch has become cliche. Actually being summoned to help the holy church fight the demon king would be fresh and new at this point.

You don't get to see something like an angel in manga unless it's more evil than the most ugly, twisted devil there is. Or it's a total pushover and needs the MC's help to even stand up long enough to be knocked down with one of its own feathers.

Just gets kind of annoying and cliche. Yes, evil darkness powers, so much 'cooler' and better than the powers that are meant to represent righteousness and the protection of the weak and innocent through self-sacrifice and bravery.

To be fair, you'd really only see that in a SoL stories. Because having the main power backing civilization being strong and whole and wholesome doesn't leave much room for conflict that an MC needs to be created to step in and 'fix' the country/world/etc. I suppose you could have the nations are bad and the church is good, but that's not really a japanese thing. Chinese I feel like monks vs nations is fairly common in wuxia, but not really a 'western' church.

@MarceloYuri the past MC is asshole too you know

Dude, every one, other than MC and his friends, is a massive asshole. I know that we need villains, but a guy pimping out minors after whipping them for crying in back of a cart where they are getting trafficked in the dead of winter? Is this like that time with Fairy Tail when all villains would end up becoming friends and each new villain had to be worse than the last just so we couldn't expect? We even got to the point where the villain said they killed their own parents. What is going to happens next? A pope that goes kidnapping, raping, drugging and killing a little girl while promising the older brother, also a minor, to look after her?

My problem with this series is that anything not directly showing Roland or the Witches staying with him are awful.

Author's ideas in this novel are disgusting.
Avatar
@Doomer it's ten times worse in the novel, the church slows the story to a halt and it only gets worse.
Avatar
we have like 20 plot points in the air right now and the church is probably the least interesting yet they keep getting entire chapters devoted to them...

core and Nucleus are synonyms in this case so it's really no difference in this case.
the big difference between the word nucleus or core comes depending if you use it as a noun or as a adjective. as a Core in a part of a fruit while Nucleus is a part of an atom.

in the light novel translation i read, they used "pivotal" to describe the area.
what's important in this case is that you need to communicate that this place they are talking about is the "center of importance" and not the physical center.
this is why i think "Pivotal" is arguably better then Nucleus as a description as it by definition is something that is at the "center of importance" but not necessary physically at the center unlike other synonyms that could have been used like core, nucleus or kernel.
but again.... potatoes patatas.

TL:DR
there is basically none in this case.

Core would also work instead of nucleus. Don't even know what would be the distinguishing factor.
