Well, he did accuse her of drugging him, and seems to have divorced her within 24 hours of marrying her. So can't exactly expect her to fawn over him.

The kid never met him before, let alone spoke to him so obviously there's going to be a barrier.

(But you can tell from the kids behavior that his mother still loves the bloke. So I assume she still speaks fondly of him in private.)
