The instant regret here, when she realizes what she did, it's something special.

@Academic WHAT?

Technically things like the DSM-5 will qualify what behaviors are associated with being on the spectrum. My issues are more that there definitely are behaviors that should have other diagnosis and traits that should be addressed lest it is ascribed to the condition. As it stands, I definitely think he's more likely to be on the spectrum than she is, at least speaking as a high-functioning autistic person.

@Tamerlane Generalise harder.
First, there's no playbook that dictates exactly what autistic people do and do not.
Second, there are clearly other reasons, e.g. abuse, PTSD, that set a precedent for her to lash out in this way, exacerbated in stressful situations by her communication issues.

man, i hope this doesn't get axed, for once an interesting story with interesting characters

Inb4 the nurse knows exactly what to do.

WHAT DID THE FIVE FINGERS SAY TO THE FACE?
Avatar
@Pibata check page 13 - "yokoi-san wants to help people like her" - maybe she felt jealous or has abandonment issues and felt replaced

Aye people on the spectrum can def do this shit. My sister's an aspie, and she's done worse to everyone in the family when she gets in her psychotic episodes.
Avatar
I have literally been stabbed by an autistic child with a pencil because he had a similar nonsensical violent reaction such as this. I don't get why people are confused.
Avatar
Ok but why did she think that of the woman?
Avatar
That immediate face of regret

@Xxjuggernaut He was overconfident that he could handle her attacks, he admits he made a mistake of his "approach"... This is a great manga to show how people with her mental issues act and live, it is very interesting.

I need more

@Tamerlame Autistic people/people with Aspergers can and do definitely react violently when they're really stressed out or having a meltdown (not all obviously, but a fair amount).
Avatar
Can we get some further explanation on why such a violent reaction? People on the spectrum don't do this, even when they have panic attacks. Why is she so invective towards that one dude?
