1. the teacher was ordered to not teacher her at all 2. the teacher decided to be abusive on their own 3. others treated her like trash after hearing the 'results'
also, with how much she repeated the whole i am trash... it really feels like the author wanting to say: she is great tho. 'plot twist'. so i am expecting her to be good at both now.
but i could be wrong, and, like you said, she simple didn't have the tool or were walking on the wrong path to be able to shine. but i think the divine only would be more likely than sealing. because one she showed ability to sense some sort of magic and two they don't 'seem' to have a reason to seal her (only if it was for protection somehow, due to too much magic or something). but then it would be another weird point to think about when reasoning why they sent her to the people that didn't care about her at all, without no one to look after her. they cared enough to seal the issue, but not to take care of her? at least sent someone to make sure she was being treated as a human being (and taking care of the seal and essential needs).
so far the most reasonable explanation would be they sent her away because of the father mourning, and they expected she would be treated okay. but that is still weird considering how they have been treating her so well. showed care and worry. but somehow they spent years without making sure to visit her and see if she was okay? only sending some money. i am really curious how the author will explain that, as i feel things are quite weird now. the way she expected them to be is actually more logical than what they really are (she really had bad expectations from them). [it is sweet tho to see her finding a place to be, i hope it was all a misunderstanding and things don't take a dark turn somehow, that would be a big twist].
only waiting to see, we will get to know soon enough i feel, with her showing talent more and more. maybe with that we may get to know why she was even there too, because they all seem so chill with her presence, even the dad that seem rather 'weird' at first, he didn't show the normal resistance from the 'you make me remember my wife stay away' kind of conflicting thoughts.

@moonlight00 It's also possible that MC's powers were sealed or that she inherited her mother's "Divine" magics & not the "elementary" magics used by "meagre mortals". In such a case, no amount of practice would help as her powers would either have to be unsealed or her to have a cleric for a teacher. That could be another alternative in addition to bollocks pedagogy.

@WhimsiCat it is probably right she would become 'talented', the mc curse right, as there is a need to them become a highlight of something.
but still like you said there are others answer that wouldn't exactly involving the teacher ill intent.
i think i should have been clear, what i exactly meant was that her teacher was 'making' her bad in purpose (order/payed, anger, jealousy, etc).
they not teaching her at all could be the cause of her broken confidence or even teaching her wrong willing. the same way everyone else was bullying, her teacher could also be doing the same.
there are many ways to 'teach' and everything go wrong.
out of order stuff. one thing as another (swapping). advanced stuff without foundation. talking and no realistic practice (then laugh at her for not guessing right). are only a few of the simple ways to f-it up.
in school even here, there are good and bad teacher, but imagine you learning math and the teacher willing do it completely to f-you off. it would go so wrong. in addition the teacher was also very verbally abusive.

Ayra was the one throwing a fit on how humiliating it is to teach Maybelle. With no one caring enough to actually give her attention. The step-dad wanted Maybelle to stick around because of the money.

Ayra called Rykell an A-hole. When Maybelle asked the two if she's not their daughter, the man didn't have enough time to explain, and Ayra just looked away.

It just a theory. The mother (The one whose doting the son and curb stomping the daughter) just seems to be really of putting. Usually clerics have a sense of alignment.

That staff that we were shown, usually says a lot about the user. For Evil, usually a off putting aura is on it. For Good, a type of magnetism is about it.

This is my own speculation: I think the Arch Mage loved his wife very much, and her death hit him particularly hard. I think it's really difficult for him, since she resembles her mother so much. I think he had some mission connected with her passing, and he couldn't take an infant with him. So he left her with his in-laws, paying them handsomely to care for her. That they abused and mistreated her to the point where she ran away back to him is going to come back as some serious consequences for them, once he discovers the truth. There will be another reckoning coming, especially if she masters her mother's magic as a cleric.
